President Donald Trump confirmed that he would sign a bill compelling the Justice Department to release files related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The House is expected to vote on the bill as soon as Tuesday, but it could still face hurdles in the Senate.
On Sunday, Trump said that House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, in a stunning reversal of his former position.
Before Trump’s endorsement, Republicans appeared split on whether to vote for the release of the Epstein files. But now, some lawmakers are anticipating a unanimous House vote on the issue, The New York Times reports.
Trump said he would sign the legislation while speaking to reporters during a White House FIFA World Cup 2026 Task Force meeting in the Oval Office.
The president’s voice was also hoarse throughout the event, but Trump insisted, “I feel great.”
Later Monday, Trump gave a speech at a McDonald’s summit where he talked about affordability.
“My pledge to every family and every small business is that I will not rest until you are richer, stronger, more successful, happier, so you’ve gotten a piece of the American dream,” he said at the D.C. event.

President Donald Trump was against the House voting to release the files, but now supports the measure.

Trump talks affordability at McDonald’s summit
President Donald Trump talked about affordability during a speech at a Washington, D.C., summit that McDonald’s hosted Monday evening.
“This is all to the golden age of America, because we are doing better than we’ve ever done as a country,” Trump said. “Prices are coming down and all of that stuff.”
Trump talked about lowering inflation and continued his claims that Walmart said “Thanksgiving this year is 25% less.”
“My pledge to every family and every small business is that I will not rest until you are richer, stronger, more successful, happier, so you’ve gotten a piece of the American dream.
“Some of you in this room have really gotten a piece at it, because you made a great decision to go with a great, great company years ago, and it’s really pretty amazing,” Trump said.
The president continued: “And that begins with making America…the word is affordable, and affordable should be our word, not theirs,” referring to the Democrats.
Democrats who focused on affordability won major races in New York City, New Jersey and Virginia earlier this month.
