Cat Shamelessly ‘Screaming’ for Her ‘Second Dinner’ Is a True Diva in the Making
My cats do not wear a watch and have no concept of how to tell time, but I can promise you that they know, down to the second, when they are supposed to be fed meals. You can always tell, because if you’re even one minute late, they will immediately start following you around, meowing at the top of their lungs, just in case you had forgotten to feed them… even if that has never happened before in their lives.
Daisy, the cat in the video below, is a lot like that. But it’s not dinner she’s looking for — it’s second dinner, and she is not messing around.
But the most hysterical thing about this TikTok video shared by @daisythecatofla on Sunday, Sept. 14 isn’t that she’s meowing for more food (though yes, she’s definitely doing that — and very loudly, too).
It’s actually that she has somehow figured out how to use her paws to look like she’s actually begging, and it’s just too much. How does anyone turn down a cat like this?!
And while most of the comments came from people insisting that this mother feed her cat, Daisy’s mom did offer a bit of a disclaimer about her behavior in a comment, writing, “Just to clarify, second dinner is just a half portion of what one complete serving would be. Her vet recommended breaking up meals like that. She’s on a diet, I promise!”
Daisy is clearly a well cared for cat… even if she is a little demanding!

Sometimes, Cats Wanting a Second Dinner Has a Deeper Meaning
Sure — there are plenty of cats out there who will never miss out on an extra meal or an extra snack if they think they can get one out of their humans. Who can blame them?!
But sometimes, your cat might actually be sending you a message by begging for more food if they’ve already eaten. As PetMD points out, sometimes, it can be a sign of a sudden increased appetite, which can be a cause for a visit to the vet. But other times, it can be as simple as a sign that your cat is feeling bored and needs more stimulation.
It’s also important to note that increased hunger in cats can be associated with some serious health conditions like diabetes, hypothyroidism, and cancer, so it never hurts to get things checked out if you’re not able to solve their food begging through offering their brains more stimulation or serving them multiple, smaller meals instead of one or two larger ones during the day.
And of course, it can’t hurt to double check that you’re feeding your cat the recommended portion of food for their weight!
