Surgery is tough. Everyone an agree on that: it’s just not easy. Even when it’s a minor thing, there’s still recovery time, and it’s a little scary. Ideally, people who are having surgery have someone to help them get through it. Without support, it’s even harder!

Recently, a sweet kitten had to have surgery! He had a mom who loved him, and she was there the entire time. There’s no healing like a mama’s snuggles… But that wasn’t quite enough. He decided to make it quirkier than ever before, and it’s too cute:

Good morning! I’m ready to start on ENT I think. Would you mind giving me my first article to try out and then I’ll pitch one?

I hope that @ohshesbrittany_ is making sure that her earlobe is taking a break every once in a while. Is it going to prune like your fingers when you’ve been in the bath for too long?

This kitten is completely fine: the surgery was to get him neutered. He’s a rescue: his mom found him when he was still too young to do anything but nurse! His eyes were still closed, but he didn’t even have a cat mama to help him. That’s where this nice woman came in!

He’s growing like crazy, and since he’s orange, you can bet he’s an absolute menace. He’s eating more solid food these days, but he’s not done nursing, apparently. Whether it’s her ear or her nose, he’s pretty well convinced she’s his mom and he nurses away.

He’s so cute about it, too:

This is actually a pretty common behavior in both kittens and puppies: it means exactly what you think it means. It’s a comfort thing! This is most common with kittens who were taken from their mothers too early, though it’s also common right when you bring them home.

Over time, their desire to suckle should subside, though it’ll pop out every now and again. My oldest dog is 10 and we still catch him “nursing” on his favorite toy occasionally!
