Golden Retriever Has Cutest Tantrum When Mom Doesn’t Open Door Fast Enough

My dogs let me know what they want when they want it, especially when it comes to food and the front door. Most canines make it clear when they expect their breakfast and dinner, and mine are no exception. The same can be said for when they want to go outside. My senior Dachshund gets especially pushy and continually scratches at the door until her wish is granted (hence the chipped paint at the bottom). When my pups want to get in the house, they’ll stand on the stoop and bark until that door opens.

Charlie the Golden Retriever has a different form of communication for letting his mom know when he wants to go back inside.

In the TikTok from @laurenandcody, Charlie got off an elevator and ran straight to his apartment door. The gorgeous Golden playfully stomped toward the door, telling his mom to open it. When that didn’t work, Charlie got a bit more expressive.

“POV: Your Golden Retriever has a tantrum when you don’t open the door fast enough,” the onscreen text explained.

The persistent pooch then ran in circles and chased his tail to emphasize his request, almost like he had a mini case of the zoomies. His mother found the scene very humorous.

“Charlie, what are you doing?” his mom asked. “What are you trying to say – you wanna go inside ’cause you’re hungry?”

The determined dog stared at his mom and added an adorable head tilt to convey his command. Charlie expected action and he wanted it quickly.

Golden Retrievers Talk Through Body Language

Previous TikToks reveal that the mini stomp is Charlie’s signature move when trying to get what he wants. Golden Retrievers are very expressive and use various forms of body language to communicate.

Tail wagging is common with most breeds and can express both positive and negative emotions. A fast wag tends to show agitation, where a slower or helicopter wag in a circle means happiness.

Posture is a form of communication as well. When a pooch puts its chest on the ground with front paws extended and its back end up in the air, they want to play. A hunched over stance expresses fear or stress. When your fur baby rolls over on their back, it means submission and relaxation.

It wasn’t hard to figure out what Charlie wanted. He didn’t need any words since his actions spoke for themselves.
