Famous Golden Retriever’s Reaction To Newborn Brother Has People in Stitches
Bringing home a newborn baby is a big day for any family. And when there are four-legged kids at home waiting, it can be a mix of anticipation and a little bit of nerves. Will the family dog like having a newborn in the house? Will they grow up to be best friends?
For Drake, the gorgeous Golden Retriever, his excitement to see his mom, Madison, again after she spent a few days in the hospital was off the charts. Of course, he was thrilled to see his dad Ivan, too. But it was his reaction after greeting his brand-new baby brother that had everyone cracking up.
See how he handled the moment in this adorable video shared on September 23:
Oh, Drake (@drakethepupstar), you are a riot! At first, it looked like this happy pup was eager to meet his new sibling. His nose was going, his tail was wagging, and he leaned in for the big introduction.
But then, in what looked like a split-second of indifference, Drake turned and marched straight to the porch, putting as much distance as possible between himself and the new baby.

His mom laughed that while some dogs seem to sense when their parent is pregnant, she doesn’t think Drake picked up on it at all. Or maybe he did, and he’s just realizing that his only child days are officially over. Still, it won’t take long for him to figure out that this little guy will soon become one of his biggest fans.
Dogs Adjusting to Newborns
According to the ASPCA, it’s normal for dogs to need time to adjust when a newborn comes home. They suggest slow introductions, positive reinforcement, and maintaining a sense of routine to help pets feel secure.
While some pups jump right into big-brother mode, others, like Drake, may need a little space before warming up to the new dynamic. In the comments, his mom shares that he’s already doing better.
Fans couldn’t help but laugh at Drake’s response. Viewer @bradythecorgi commented, “Omg! I was not expecting that hahaha.” Another added, “Drake literally said I’ve seen what I needed to see, and it’s a no.”
And @whiskeythegoldenn_ had the perfect prediction for the future: “Drake, you will love licking the food crumbs off him one day, lol.”
Along with the sweet video, the couple also shared heartwarming photos on Instagram, giving fans a glimpse of their first moments at home together.
As baby Ivan grows, Drake will no doubt come around. With his joyous spirit and loyal Golden Retriever heart, he’ll be teaching his little brother how to go clamming, tagging along on adventures, and maybe even giving him a few hockey pointers from the sidelines when cheering on his NHL player dad.
Congratulations to Madison, Ivan, baby Ivan, and of course big brother Drake—wishing this growing family all the love and laughter in the world.
