If someone’s in trouble, leave it to dogs to save the day. Move over, Captain America—nothing can stop a devoted pup from helping their person if they get even a whiff that something’s wrong. It’s that sense of fearless duty that makes them such amazing companions… even if you’re not actually in need of their help!

Harry the English Bulldog doesn’t have time to assess any sort of situation because if Mom’s involved, he’s going in without pause or rational thought. In a recent video, the “heroic” pup jumped right into action to save her from drowning… if you want to call it that!

I wish there were a lead-in to the 8-second clip to explain why Harry felt the need to sprint over to Mom. She noted in the comments that he thought she was in trouble and couldn’t get to her fast enough. He’s everything good about dogs and why we love them!

“Harry, you’re the lifeguard on duty for the summer,” one person wrote. “He’s like a chunky coast guard hero,” another joked. Another added he went full “superhero mode,” like Mom’s life really depended on it.

That’s what it must’ve looked like to him, so we should all give him a round of applause for his quick thinking! Not to mention, he’s adorably floppy when he runs, so it’s a win/win for everyone.

The nearly 10-month-old English Bulldog lives his best life as the center of Mom’s world. Hobbies include stalking her bed for dropped treats, demanding an escort out of doggy daycare, and insisting he be hand-fed like the king he is.

The days Dad’s home—aka the “spare” human—he takes over some of Harry’s requests, including the hilarious hand-fed meals. This is one envy-worthy Bulldog who’s got it made in the shade!

He has some kind of power over everyone he meets, because they all do what he wants. You know what? I would, too!

Everyone knows an English Bulldog when they see one, which is why they’re said to be the “universal face of courage and tenacity.” Docile and gentle, this loyal breed can simultaneously hang on the couch or rush into wild waters to save your life with their determination and grit.

Harry is all of that wrapped up into one perfectly wrinkly good boy superhero, who did whatever was necessary to keep Mom safe, whether she needed him or not!
