Moment Bernedoodle Brings His Newborn Baby Sister Her Hospital Blanket Will Melt Your Heart

Published

Dogs can be sweet (and chaotic) siblings to one another, but they can be even sweeter to their human siblings. Whether they’re cuddling up during a feeding or learning to play their siblings’ favorite game, dogs have an unconditionally loving nature that humans just can’t replicate.

For the perfect proof, look no further than the moment Pilates instructor and new mom @claudia_fahey introduced her newborn daughter to her Bernedoodle dog named Brodie. They knew they were in for a whole lot of sweetness when they brought their baby home, but the way Brodie met them at the door with the baby’s blanket in his mouth had everyone absolutely melting!

Pass the tissues, please! This sweet Doodle dog was meant to be a big brother to his baby sister, and he couldn’t have welcomed her more perfectly. Claudia and her husband couldn’t have asked for a better greeting!

“That’s so nice of you to have his baby for him,” @bsmith1216 commented. That’s precisely what he’s thinking! After having her hospital blanket to smell and cuddle with, he’s more than ready to upgrade to the real thing.

Luckily, Mom and Dad are ready, too! This proud dad was practically glowing as his fur baby met his human baby, and no one can blame him one bit.

Commenter @justicelabbe said, “Gosh, Doodles are such intelligent dogs. “I hope his sister knows she’s due for a life of cuddles, licks, and gifts from him.” She couldn’t be luckier to have Brodie as a big brother, but as she grows, Brodie will realize that he’s just as lucky to have her, too.

Introducing Dog and Baby

Claudia and her husband helped Brodie get used to the idea of having a baby around by bringing home her hospital blanket for him to smell. He got to know her via scent before he got to know her, and it was just the preparation he needed. He was so glad to meet his baby sis!

Other parents-to-be play the sound of baby cries or let the dog explore the nursery before their little one makes their arrival. There are so many ways to help a dog get used to the idea of becoming a big sibling, and with just a little love and patience, they can be off to a great start, just like Brodie and his baby sister!
