German Shepherd ‘Supervises’ Toddler Playing and the Stress Is So Real
Babies are stressful for our dogs for a multitude of reasons. To start, they’re a whole new part of their lives. Babies and toddlers have needs that sometimes clash with their own, and they disrupt their routines as a result. In addition, though, babies are always getting in trouble.
On Monday, September 8th, one German Shepherd was stressing to the max. He was watching his brother play with their baby brother, this poor boy. He knows that the two of them get into some real trouble together:
Brody and Chief each have very specific roles for their little brother, and they take them very seriously. Brody’s role is just a little more serious.

Brody is the protector, and Chief is the playmate. Brody will definitely play sometimes, too, but he prefers safer, softer forms of play. Like sitting on the couch and making sure the baby doesn’t go anywhere. When he starts running, Brody starts stressing.
That’s where Chief comes in. He helps the baby get into all kinds of trouble, half because he loves to play and half because he loves to annoy his brother. Poor Brody has two younger siblings to contend with. He’ll be fully grey in no time with how much they stress him out!
Brody has to watch sunsets at night to help him relax. Those two have him on the clock all day!
German Shepherds Are a Very Protective Breed
In the right hands, German Shepherds make some of the best family dogs in the entire world. They can coexist with babies, toddlers, kids, teens, you name it. Many of them can even get along fine with other animals! However, getting them to that point requires a ton of patience and training.
German Shepherds are exceptional: they can be whatever you need them to be. Honestly, their training is just as much on you as it is on them: you have to be consistent. They can also tend to be a little overprotective of their loved ones, so it’s important that you make sure they’re properly socialized with others.
It helps prevent both aggression and stress… Unless you’re Brody. He’ll be stressed to the max forever.
