Dachshund Realizing the Tiny Human Is Here To Stay Will Give You All the Laughs

Change can be hard, especially when it comes in the form of a crying baby.

And especially if you’re used to being the reigning cutie in the house.

That is what happened to this cute Dachshund, who was just trying to take his nap when he was rudely interrupted by the crying baby being held by his mother sitting next to him.

After being awoken by the baby, the handsome black and brown Dachshund turns his head and looks right at the camera with one of those classic Jim Halpert looks as if to say, “You’ve got to be kidding me.”

The video, which was posted to his mom’s account under the name @camila_eckler, was captioned perfectly with, “I didn’t sign up for this.”

We feel you, doggie!

Do Dogs Know Babies Are Babies?

When a family with a dog brings home a baby, does the pooch understand what is happening in some capacity?

Well, the answer is basically yes, but they understand it on a dog level.

According to VetsExplainPets, they certainly will notice that this tiny little thing is probably causing its humans to behave a bit differently, which they will pick up on.

They most likely aren’t grasping the concept that an infant is now present, which is a very young human, but they do most likely sense that there is a new member of the pack that is not only very vulnerable but also very valuable.

And with those strong doggy smell senses, they can possibly tell that babies are a unique kind of human than the rest of the members of the household and need to be treated a little bit differently.

Their ability to also read body language (and body language may actually make them little baby whisperers) may help them understand what the baby needs even more than their human parents, according to VetsExplainPets.

Some pups may feel threatened by this tiny little human and become jealous and act out, but others may feel naturally protective of this new addition.

Clearly, this Dachshund may still be on the fence about the baby, but we’re enjoying the journey.
