Chocolate Labrador Musters All Her Energy To Sweetly Kiss Dad After Amputation Surgery
If we could protect our sweet pets from experiencing any sort of pain, we’d go to the ends of the earth to do it. It hurts to sit back and watch them suffer, even if that residual pain is from a life-saving surgery.
Asia, the Chocolate Labrador, recently endured the unthinkable—a leg amputation—and even amid her agonizing pain, she’s still able to show Dad how much she loves him.
“Asia is the strongest dog I know. Such a fighter and such a hero,” Dad captioned the post in part. Though the heartwarming (heartbreaking?) clip is only 8 seconds, it may as well be an eternity by the way Asia is whimpering from pain.
This is one brave pup who’s been through so much in such a short amount of time, so to see the way she musters every last ounce of energy just to give Dad a kiss is worthy of a tissue or three. Talk about the most unconditional love you could ever have.

Dogs have a way of making me cry before noon, so that’s cool. The important thing is, Asia pulled through something so awful, and though she’s got a long road of recovery ahead of her, she’s got her best friend, Dad, by her side.
“Oh gosh, this hurt my heart,” one person shared. “Oh, Asia. My Lab’s crying along with you when she heard this,” another added. “No problem, I haven’t cried today yet anyway,” another person, like me, wrote.
Here’s a look at the gorgeous Chocolate Labrador’s journey.
Asia’s Amputation Backstory
Unfortunately, precious Asia had aggressive and rare histiocytic sarcoma, which PetMD describes as abnormal cells that can develop in different parts of a dog’s body, causing their immune system to overreact, resulting in cancer. Asia had a tumor in her paw, and the only way for her to get better was to amputate that leg.
That was five months ago, and since then, she’s come a long way. Despite a tumultuous journey from the initial cancer diagnosis, which included phantom pains and learning to walk as a tripod, she recently celebrated her 6th birthday and is fully living her best life with Dad by her side through it all.
