Black Labrador Acts Like ‘Moody Teenager’ and Pretends Not to Know Her Parents

The stereotype of teenagers is legendary. This age bracket is known as temperamental, rebellious, standoffish, and often maintain a distance from parents especially when in public.

This Black Labrador Retriever had the demeanor of a teen on a day out with her parents, where she acted like they were total strangers.

In the TikTok from @kattey.ortiz, the pretty pooch’s parents brought her to an outdoor pub and were sitting on a couch. The Labrador decided to sit on a separate couch, all the way at the end. Onlookers could easily assume the fur baby was going solo for the day.

“Our moody teenager who sat herself as far away as she possibly could from her parents,” the onscreen text explained, with the caption facetiously adding, “The nerve on this girl.”

Emphasizing her need to not be associated with her parents, the self-conscious canine faced the opposite direction from her mom and dad almost as further proof that she didn’t know them. Maybe she was afraid of running into her furry friends and they wouldn’t think it’s cool for a canine to spend the afternoon with her parents.

Followers had a field day with the scene and commented on the Labrador’s reason for remaining at a distance.

“She said she was supposed to be at the mall with her friends but you guys are ruining her life,” one pointed out.

“You guys are too clingy,” a fan remarked.

“Peak teenage behavior… WAY too cool to be seen with parents,” another posted.

“All she needed was her headphones and a hoodie,” a follower wrote.

Why Dogs May Act Differently in Public

Some dogs who are the social type love being in public places and around new people. Still, there are others that may get nervous or stressed in an unfamiliar environment and either act out or withdraw to a quiet place.

Establishments like stores and restaurants have many distractions for dogs, where they may get overstimulated and need a break. Maybe this precious pooch possibly wanted some down time to decompress with her parents at arm’s length.

Short outings to acclimate your dog to public places can help them make the transition and actually enjoy their time in public. Patience during this process also goes a long way.
