Star heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua was injured in a car crash in Nigeria that resulted in two fatalities.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, echoed that same sentiment to the Daily Mail, although he said he was still trying to get in touch with the boxer.

Joshua was reportedly traveling in an SUV that collided with a stationary truck. Olusegun Ogungbemide, a spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps, said the initial investigation indicated the vehicle in which Joshua was seated appeared “to be traveling beyond the legally prescribed speed limit on the corridor, lost control during an overtaking maneuver and crashed into a stationary truck well packed by the side of the road,” per the Associated Press.

Joshua, 36, is reportedly in Nigeria on vacation. Both of his parents were born in Nigeria and Joshua spent a few years of his childhood in the country.

The crash comes days after Joshua defeated Jake Paul in an eight-round Netflix heavyweight boxing match. Joshua knocked out Paul in the sixth round, breaking Paul’s jaw in the process.

Paul sent prayers to Joshua and the individuals killed in the crash Monday.
